Occupational Therapy
An integral part of The Foundation School program is occupational therapy (OT). OT is provided through classroom consult, parent consult, and direct intervention. Areas of self care, fine motor skills, visual perception, motor planning and coordination, handwriting, and sensory processing are all assessed and addressed based on each child's individual needs. The team incorporates and addresses these skills throughout the day to provide cross curricular carryover.
Having occupational therapy on site and integrated into the program allows each child to use her strengths and improve upon areas of concern. Individualized adaptations are made to the environment and schedules to allow optimal learning considering each child's sensory and physical needs.
Staff are all trained to incorporate sensory input or modifications into each class as necessary to provide the ideal learning environment.
The main goal for all children is to help them be available for learning and to function independently and successfully throughout their day.
