Collaborative Teaching
Our core value is that bringing a committed group of professionals together to work as a team is the best way to provide for the individual needs of our students. Our students have unique needs that make each one special and they deserve a team of highly trained therapists, special education teachers, and support staff all dedicated to working together for their success.
Examples of Collaborative Teaching might be a speech and language therapist coordinating vocabulary development with a special education teacher working on reading and an occupational therapist working on functional skills. By integrating their instruction students learn language through auditory, visual and hands-on activities and learn to apply their new knowledge and skills in the widest possible range of activity. In another example targeting social behavior, the team develops goals and strategies so students have access to benefit from the consistent supports and expectations across all disciplines. Daily staff meetings are integral to developing and maintaining this collaboration among staff and are key to our approach.
"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." --Helen Keller
